Altra Industrial Motion EHS Coordinator in Erie, Pennsylvania
Job Summary: This position will lead all aspects of industrial safety, health, and environmental systems for the facility. He/she will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitor EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This position will coordinate all safety and environmental training to meet regulations and internal program requirements, and maintain records in cooperation with other facility resources including operations and human resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*Support the environmental management process with updating the HMBP, chemical inventory, waste streams and other required relevant data for permitting submittals. *Assist departments with spill reporting/processing reports/investigation and ensure the necessary supplies such as spill kits, first aid supplies and proper training.
*Manage hazard communication program.
*Review new chemicals and maintain chemical inventory information to ensure accurate location allowable quantities for new project requests and activities.
*Review packing slips on incoming chemicals for SDS compliance.
*Oversee and maintain required regulatory and agency required paperwork and permits (i.e., OSHA logs, permits, etc.) in a timely manner, and prepare related documents for signature.
*Update and maintain OSHA and other safety metrics and databases.
*Conduct safety inspections of work spaces, equipment and operations and make recommendations for safety improvements.
*Report injury claims to Worker’s Compensation carrier and coordinate claims as necessary.
*Conduct accident/incident investigations and re-enactments to identify root causes, develop and propose corrective solutions to prevent recurrence, and work with appropriate personnel to implement solutions. *Implement and lead the plant Safety and Environmental Committees to make recommendations to management.
*Respond and provide assistance in all emergency situations.
*Perform risk assessments for processes and new equipment and take action to prevent any hazardous condition.
*Utilize safety-by-design, job safety / hazard analysis, and EHS practice integration techniques to resolve hazards and exposures in operations processes.
*Ensure PPE is appropriate, available and in good-working condition for employee use
*Purchase all safety supplies and equipment needed in the facility.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Environmental Science, Industrial Health and Safety, or related field from a four-year college or university; one to three years of environmental, health, and safety experience in a manufacturing facility.
Demonstrated ability to lead, negotiate, recommend and implement solutions. Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and to present and communicate technical information to all levels of management. Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to organize and effectively coordinate multiple and frequently conflicting, concurrent tasks, with good follow-through. Demonstrated familiarity with ISO 9001, OSHA, Machine Safeguarding, basic Industrial Hygiene, required regulatory and permitting paperwork. CPR certification desired. Ability to support off shifts and travel as needed.
